Building better sound: RCF on innovation, connection and careers in pro audio

Professional audio brand and official show sponsor, RCF are set to showcase a range of advanced sound solutions at PLASA Focus Leeds. Ahead of the show, we spoke with Alfie King who looks after UK Sales & Marketing about innovation, industry connections, and building a career in pro audio.

What do you value or enjoy the most about exhibiting at PLASA Show?

It’s a chance to meet face to face with people at every stage of their journey in the pro audio world, from those just starting out through to seasoned experts who are all coming to build connections and find out about the latest innovations from RCF and the other cutting-edge manufacturers in our industry.

In what ways is your company driving the industry forward?

Off the back of the success of the EVOX J8, we’ve pushed forward with the EVOX J9 and J11, making them true three-way solutions with the addition of a 1.75” compression driver. This gives our compact column series a massive upgrade for situations where a small footprint is essential but sound quality still needs to be at the highest standard for our customers.

We also have a new range of KPS digital install amplifiers which can be programmed on site via a phone, tablet or laptop. Pair that with our RCF speaker presets and optional Dante integration and you’ve got a quick, easy-to-access amplifier platform with a lot of depth and configuration options.

On the TT+ Audio side, we have the latest in cardioid line array technology with the GTX 7C and GTS 16C. These feature cardioid technology with up to 22 dB of rear rejection, meaning when you’re working in acoustically challenging environments, you’ve got the tools you need to produce amazing audio results.

What was your first role in the industry?

I started 19 years ago in a local arts centre as a sound engineer assistant. From the first time learning how to properly coil XLR cables to watching the first show come together, I was hooked, hooked on the art of helping performers put on the show they had in their mind, and figuring out how to best use the tools available to make sure the audience had an amazing experience and left with a smile on their face.

What’s so great about working in the entertainment technology industry?

It’s one of the fastest-moving industries for innovation and problem solving. No two projects are ever the same, so no two days are the same either. You work every day with people who are living their dream and passion, who dedicate their lives to delivering the best possible result for every project and that energy is what drives me and keeps me loving what I do.

PLASA Focus Leeds returns to the Royal Armouries from 12-13 May 2026.

You can find RCF on stand N-D20, where you can get hands-on with their latest audio equipment. Attend the show for free with RCF.
