As well as working at The Old Vic, Christian is also co-chair of the Theatre Green Book Buildings Committee.

At The Old Vic, he is responsible for the running of the technical department and team along with the maintenance and compliance of all technical systems, health & safety and sustainability. The Old Vic is currently on its journey to a net zero pathway and Christian is part of the team forming this pathway.

In February 2025, Christian launched The Old Vic’s new Carbon Literacy training programme which aims to train all full time and part time staff by the end of 2027. 

Prior to joining The Old Vic, Christian worked for Charcoalblue Theatre Consultants as a team leader and the sustainability coordinator. Christian worked on many projects across the globe during his 7 ½ years with Charcoalblue. His projects range from The Sondheim Theatre, ABBA Voyage, BAFTA, Hertford Beam and The Eden Project Dundee.

As the sustainability coordinator, Christian was responsible for setting up the environmental sustainability strategy, training all staff in Carbon Literacy, creating a bespoke offsetting scheme and engaging with manufacturers, suppliers, contractors and designers to discuss low carbon impact designs. 

Christian also spent 12 years at Sadler’s Wells theatre, six as the technical manager. Whilst at Sadler’s, Christian was part of the 2014/15 refurbishment works which centred around sustainability and longevity.
