Nick Peverett

BSc Sound, Light and Live Event Engineering (SLLEE) - Final Year , University of Derby
Nick is a final-year student on the BSc Sound, Light and Live Event Engineering (SLLEE) course.  Despite the course covering a wide range of subject areas, Nick has increasingly been drawn towards a career in sound engineering. Having worked at numerous events during his degree course, usually volunteering at FOH or monitors, Nick has now secured a post at SFL Productions in Reading, working as part of D&B Solutions UK.  Nick is expected to produce a 15,000-word dissertation as part of his final year. Unusually, Nick was approached to take on a mentored project with the multinational Rolls-Royce, looking at the application of specific audio technology that may be useful in their manufacturing process. Beyond that, however, a non-disclosure agreement means only Nick knows the true nature of his project.  Agreeing to do the panel, Nick was assured it would not be as intimidating as his last. As part of ongoing research into hearing health at the University, Nick was invited to the World Health Organisation’s Headquarters in Geneva to talk about noise at live music events from a youth perspective. Nick was faced with a large panel of esteemed scientists and audio professionals, but he conveyed the importance of live music and the context in which it is consumed. He is hoping you will be an easier crowd.
