Paul has over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry, working as a lighting control programmer, production electrician, technical manager, lighting designer, and re-lighter.

As a qualified electrician, he also specialises in building bespoke electrical systems for props and installations.

Paul has worked across a wide range of live performance genres and scales, collaborating with some of the industry’s leading theatre companies, lighting designers, and creative teams.

His academic interests include the use of light as a creative and communicative element in live performance, the relationship between scenography and the spectator, and the influence of technology on performance.

As a lecturer at LIPA, he teaches lighting specialism modules, focusing on contemporary industry practices in lighting design, control, electrics, and production. He supports students in their lighting roles across a range of institute productions, mentoring them through the creative and practical challenges of designing and realising live performance.

Paul is also the module leader for the Professional Career module, where he works with students to develop the skills, knowledge, and professional portfolios needed to build sustainable careers in the creative industries.
