Roy Wimpenny
Education & Application Support,
d&b audiotechnik
Roy grew up with a love for music, but soon discovered that Thom Yorke was lying when he said ‘anyone can play guitar’. He studied Music Technology at Keele University, Graduating in 2006. After that, he moved to London, where he cut his teeth as a Junior Technician, driving vans and coiling cable within the busy corporate AV sector. Several years later, he fancied a change of scenery and moved to the Cayman Islands, where he worked as Head of Sound for a local production company. There he worked on everything from obnoxiously loud Carnival floats to concerts, all while spending as much time as possible in the sea and drinking at dive bars. The seven-year itch hit again, and he moved back to the UK and joined d&b audiotechnik as an Education and Application Support team member. Here, he provides training for Partners and users, as well as system design and tech support. Despite his love for scuba diving, Roy made the health-focused decision not to continue his scuba diving passion in the Bristol Channel. He loves dogs and his favourite biscuit is a pink wafer.
