Tom was first introduced to Vectorworks in 2001 while studying BA Technical Theatre Arts at Middlesex University. After graduating, Tom worked for many years at the Bush Theatre as its chief technician, followed by a wide variety of shows, events, and concerts at the Roundhouse in Camden. Some of these included the BBC Electric Proms, iTunes Festival and Short Circuit Festival at The Roundhouse in Camden. During this time Tom also toured with the Opera Group and ROH and then held the title of Head of Lighting at Longborough Festival Opera in the Cotswold’s. After three years in this role Tom then became Head of Lighting for Regents Park Open Air Theatre.

In 2013 while touring internationally with the Shakespeare company ‘Propeller’, Tom won the Inaugural Jill Fraser Award for his re-light and associate design work. Altogether, Tom did four years of international touring with Propeller, followed by numerous tours for Frantic Assembly and re-lights and adaptations for English Touring Opera. Most recently, Tom was the Deputy Chief Electrician at the Grade 1 listed Bath Theatre Royal in the west of England.  Tom’s Vectorworks drafting has included projects for St Petersburg Ballet Theatre, Welsh National Opera, and The National Theatre of Great Britain. As a freelance Vectorworks Specialist he has undertaken Vectorworks training and consultancy work for CSSD, The Lir, Rose Bruford, Lipa, Knifedge design, Abbey Theatre Dublin, Slava Snowshow, and Phoenix dance theatre in Leeds. Tom still designs a handful of productions a year and in 2021 won the What’s on stage ‘Offie’ award for best Lighting Design. Tom is now the UK Entertainment Industry Specialist with Vectorworks.
